Materials
- 2x4 lumber
- plywood
- chicken wire
- roofing material (shingles or metal)
- hinges
- latch
- nails
- screws
- wood glue
- paint or stain (optional)
Instructions
- Choose a level spot to build the coop.
- Measure and mark out the dimensions of the coop on the ground.
- Use 2x4 lumber to build the frame of the coop. Cut the pieces to size and attach them together with screws and wood glue.
- Cover the frame with plywood and secure it with nails.
- Cut openings for the door and windows, and attach hinges to the door.
- Install chicken wire around the coop, making sure to cover all openings.
- Add a roof using shingles or metal roofing material. Make sure it overhangs the walls to protect the coop from rain.
- Add a latch to the door to keep it closed.
- If desired, paint or stain the coop to protect it from the elements.
- Add straw or wood shavings to the floor of the coop for bedding.
