- Build the frame using 2x4 lumber
- Attach the hardware cloth to the bottom of the frame
- Attach the chicken wire to the sides and top of the frame
- Add the roof using your chosen material
- Attach the castor wheels to the bottom of the frame
- Add the door using hinges and a latch
- Install the feeders and waterers
- Paint or stain the chicken tractor
Maintenance
To keep your chicken tractor in good condition, it's important to perform regular maintenance tasks:
- Clean out the coop regularly to prevent buildup of droppings and bacteria
- Check for any damage or wear and repair as needed
- Move the chicken tractor to a new location regularly to prevent overgrazing and promote fresh foraging opportunities
- Provide fresh food and water daily
